1/You are
the driver who killed Lucy. Write his parents a letter of apology (lettre
d’excuses) .
Dear Mr and Mrs So-and-So
Forgive me for writing this letter to you,
I know it isn’t done, I know it will only add to your grief and sorrow, but ever
since the accident that cut Rebecca’s young life short, I haven’t been
able to sleep, eat drink or work. If I only could turn back the hands of time
and not answer that call, if only I had stopped the car instead of answering
the call, none of that would have happened and Rebecca would still be there ! A
lot of people were sandalized to learn that I only got a 250-pound fine and 6
points knocked off my licence, I expected more, I would’ve liked to be sent to
prison to redeem myself; instead, day in day out, I have to look at my face in
the mirror, the face of a murderer. I have burned my driving licence, I will
never take the wheel again; once a week, I go to the town’s E.R in order to help out, and I have set up and association to
sensitize drivers to the dangers of phoning while driving, perhaps one day, it
will help save the life of a little schoolgirl like your Rebecca.
Please, accept my deepest apologies
